Hi there! Welcome to my little corner of the web. I am an academic, educator, and writer. These days, my hours are filled with everything school-related, from university studies to lesson design. Twenty-four years of raising and educating my children provided a masterclass in absorbing history, literature, and geography, exploring faith, and analyzing human nature. Gaining knowledge of Charlotte Mason’s educational principles gave me a deep appreciation for her philosophy that children need “living books” to learn from. Our writing should be just as alive – designed with thought and structure to help others discover truth.
As a teenager, my favorite classes were English and Literature, which cultivated a love for reading, filling pages with poetry, and journaling. In college, my appreciation continued and expanded into the study of Religious Education with a specific goal of creating curriculum for children’s ministry. As a young adult, those combined skills stretched into blog writing – my first taste of writing for a broader audience. Each of these seasons provided the tools for teaching my children and working with the homeschool community.
After college, blogging, and years of homeschooling, writing lessons, journaling, and periodically crafting nonfiction prose, all of those experiences finally converged. As desert plants grow slowly and dig deep roots tapping water far beneath the surface, I have dug deep into the arid soil, gathering strength. Today, I write living lessons for homeschool courses, Bible studies, and devotionals for those standing in a desert seeking refreshment, and for lifelong learners eager to dig deep into faith, history, and geography together.
Whether you are here to view my classes, curriculum, or sneak a peek at future projects in progress, my prayer is that you find a deep well to quench your spirit and make you smile or chuckle.
The desert girl behind the writing:
Outside of digging into academic writing or drafting lessons, I share my life in the heart of the desert Southwest with my husband, my mom, and our faithful old mutt, surrounded by the landscape that inspires my work. I enjoy exploring trails during the spring bloom or escaping to the pine-forested Mogollon Rim. My hobbies include reading, writing, watching movies, and road trips. We love traveling to see our children and the occasional spontaneous adventure to remote places. On typical days, local cafes or coffee shops serve as a perfect setting for working, collaborating, or catching up with friends. Grab a cup and come join me on the journey.
